Being retired is great, but borring. Let me explain;
Wake up time...3:30 to 5:00 What do I want to do?
Read? Do genealogy on the Computer? Too early to
eat. I showered last night, so what to do? TV= no!
Oh, I know, go on to the Blog, or Wall, and read what
others have to say - or to copy some of the pic's if
they are family.
(Family)
Just yesterday, it seems, we had our 7 kids at home
(in California) then we moved up to Washington.
Before long our oldest was married and gone. We
became grandparents, soon after.
Then before we could turn around, 24 years had passed,
and the youngest child was getting married, and moving
away. Now we were Grandparents of 17. And two of
our Grandkids, were expecting.
Before we knew it, our grandkids had grown in number
until we had 27, AND we had 5 great grand SONS.
So, back to deciding what to do! We could go see one
of our kids, and visit the grandkids- except that they
are busy with their own life of kids and activities.
We could invite one of them here.. no, they have their
active lives. they don't have time. they don't want to
come. (any or all of the above)
That is not the end of the story.. two of our children
will have, or could have more children of theirown
which would add to our descendents. And then too,
our grandkids will be having their families- so that
means we get some Great granddaughters too.
So, maybe we should plan a get away, just the two
of us... perhaps a car trip? Or a visit to someother
place?
Can't do that.. our Doctors need.. us.
Their ought to be a law, that we must have all of our
foibles, and surgeries before we turn, "'old'" age.
Where is it written that when we turn 70, our bodies
need replacement parts?
Did we wear our body parts out in running to sports,
or school activities? or taking the kids her or there?
How come we did not smell the daisies? Just the
diapers!
When was there time and money to see a show?
And, why are we too tired to go see a show now,
or go to the park?
Which reminds me, How come we can not find the
interest in just going out to park?
Being "'Old"' causes one to be "'tired"', or to sit at
home, instead of finshing, of hunting, or of just
going to hang out someplace? Opps the kids' are
comming. Did you know I asked the Missionaries
to come to dinner tomorrow? Sister x wants me
to... Brother x needs our help to....
Now, after this belly ache in print- are we just
complainers? No, actually our lives are great
and we have been truly blessed by our FATHER
whom is in Heaven. Or by The SAVIOR, in one
way or the other!
We served a mission together, and now
considering serving in Bellevue, one shift;
and we can, at the same time, be Home
Misionaries in NewFamily Search's Support !
I guess it is not what you do in this life, but it's
how you do it.
Now a message from my sponsor;

Anually = sneezing time

Hello: It's that time of year again! Sneezing all the time?
Nose overflowing again? Need a nightly allergy Pill?

As Monk says in his trailer, "Well, I do!"

Just when the weather gets nice, and the yard calls to
ask when the new landscaping will occur, that is when
the trees and the grasses seem to sneak up and get
you....

Oh, I know, at first it's great! It's Clean! And it's
wonderful..... think of all the new plants, and the
way the old plans begin to branch out. the lawn
is green, the deciduous trees begin to leaf. And,
the sun is out. the clean yard swing waits to be
used. The shady parts of the lawn call out for
small picnics... All seems right. So why do we
begin to get comfortable, and "mother nature"
grabs us again....?

But then..., the yard looks great, and the birds
are back..., the noise level is humming with the
kids, whose school days are comming to a yearly
close...., nights are lighter..., people are out of
their homes..., and more friendly...,

A time for relaxing and taking stock of the good
times of life. Even the hatching of the small
spiders is a sign that life is good, and worth the
effort.

And yet again, sneeze, and sneeze again... in
multiples of 7 or 8 times, per minute. Then
you dose with medicine, with allergy pills,
yet nothing seems to help or work....,

Not as bad as the airplain problems of
Legally Blond, or the tantrums that are
experienced by just another paige on the
internet. Bad nevertheless, however,
when you are working, and the sun is
hot... where is that kleenex box anyway?

My handkerchief, if I had one, is beyond
use. The rag used to clean dirt and mud
from hands or clothes, is damp, and useless.

All in All, I do love the season... even with
(excuse me) Haa Chooo!

Did you ever think about life and it's cycle?

1. Nice - good weather - outings
sneeze
2. Rain and wind - hollidays
School starts -
changing time - falling back
falling leaves - bare branches
cold and sneezes
3. snow and cold - firelaces -movies
cold without sneezes
4. Flowers and trees sart budding
Bulbs poke through the ground
some days are warm
some rain falls lightly
5. Sunshine comes more often
Changing time - springing forward
more rain and wind -
school's getting to another end

Please don't think of me as a non-
contributing Cynic, or as a non-
creative Skeptic. and I am not just
a nonachieving Doubter. I'm afraid
the title is as my wife says, I am the
oldguy.

the last thing that should be said, is
"I love each and every one of you."

It has been a time. . .

Hi, soo much has happened! And all of it good.

Two more of our grandkids have finished high school,
One is in running start at the Jr.College, and the other
will begin College in the fall.

The one whom will begin college was at an awards
ceremony two nights ago. We were there, and to our
amazement, that grandchild won three scholarships.
And, was on National, if not, State TV coverage.

Proud Mom, sent the link to us, so we can see it over
and over again. And, in the shortest part, there is
my wife sitting next to our daughter, whom is taking
a photo of her childgetting the award.

How about that? My wife has been on television 2
times. Once, before I met her, when she was on a
game show , and now, at an awards show.

The thought comes to me, that all my grandkids are
just that, "GRAND." To visit one of them, see
"legally Blond" or "Just another Paige on the Internet."

My oldest grandson is in Ohio, wanting to get to the west
coast. And my oldest granddaughter wants to get to the
East coast. My youngest grandson just went on his 1st
overnight with the scouts, and my youngest granddaughter
will be here from her southwestern birth place, before
the summer is over. she was born on the same day and in
the same month as mylodest granddaughter. that Month
was March - so that is a great month.

Now two of my gboys are on Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints' missions. They are not yet through
their 1st year, and before long, each will have a younger
brother also in the mission field. Now, all four of these
fantastic young men have recieved the BSA rank of
Eagle Scout....

Every day, I give thanks to MY FATHER for the blessing
we as a famil y receive.

This life as a grandfather, and as a great (as in super great)
grandfather is satisfying. Perhaps I can get it right this time
for I don't think my record is that of a "Great" Dad.

Yet, those men, I call "son",. both the birth sons, and those
married to my daughters, are spectacular greats.

Now you may think this is bragging . . .Not so, only telling
the truth. And, as I think about it, all my girls, bybirth
or by marriage, are pretty special too. Each has a tallent
and gift that help the family members be all that they
can be. (sorry army) I borrowed the slogan... When I was
serving in the USArmy, the country did not think of me so
kindly.... Korea was not a "war", the press said.

Tell that to the families whom have no sons due to their
being killed in that (what do we call it) event.

Gosh, when I think of it, there are just a handfull of us, from
our High School. Our class was almost desimated when thinking
of the guys with whom I studied. At the end of Next month,
I will be 75 and wonder how many , If any will reach that age
with me?

It is said that we mellow with the years... If so, I wnat to wish our
President well, and pray for him-opps, is it alright to Pray for our
President? I don't think I can pray for our congress however, except
to pray that they have they become Honest, unselfish, and not greedy.

Is that too much for you? It is for me... so I'll say rest easy and
keep your head down... Our creator is in the Heavens, so all is well.

Wow, is it already the 6th of May? How did
a month go by that quickly?

In the last month much has happened, we
just got used to having our family grow
bigger -not bigger really,added numbers.

In 2009 we added, Eli, Koby, then Orson,
as great grandsons, and, Brescia, and
Kaityn our granddaughters... so we have
27 grand children and five greats. And
maybe a marriage in a granddaughter's life.

Somehow, these events seem to mix into our
time frames with so great an impact, that we
tend to think of them as having always been,
instead of fresh occurances.

Well, this is short..so check "Legally Blond",
and "Just one more paige on the internet".

Thinking out loud

oday, Restless Moma, and her babe and chick will be here. Also the 1st Sweet Pea, and her sis will be here too. What a blast to have all those females in this cave.

Too bad, it's not fishing season - got to wait another month to get the renewal license. My Gal will eat fish,
but only once in a while. For me, three times each day
would be OK.

that reminds me, my Pop, now departed, used to say that old family and old friends are like fish. the first
day - how great to see them. The 2nd day,- are ya still
here, and the 3rd day, what is that odor? When you
think about it, Pop got more caustic as he aged.

My Gal is great but puts a pin in my bubble. We play
table games, and sometimes go at it head to head - unfortunately, My Gal beats me most of the time.
There are a few times when I beat her at Hand and Foot, but then She wallops me at other card games.

It is my goal to get good enough to hold my own, and beat her as many times as she beat me.

On another matter, we were at a thrift store, and she
saw a small woooden stool. "that will make a great
base for my magnification sewing light, don't you think?" Hey, I am a quick thinker... soI looked at it,
but it had no price. Thinking that the price would be prohibitive, I asked a clerk, (Helen) what the price
was, and she said $4.99 - so My Gal told me to buy it.

A few days later, I had made a hole in the center of the
top, and put a sleeve in the hole. Then I had inserted the base of the light, that is the small metal rod, into
the sleeve, and fastened it with a cotter key. What do you know, the stool and the light do go together, and
the light will swivel; the stool is heavy enough to support the lamp, and the lamp works. Boy did I luck out with this project. Promblem is all my girls will want one too.

Wonder what the next project will be.?

I guess that is what growing old is all about... Well, hope you have a great day.... and can laugh, and have joy in what you do.... Life is to be enjoyed..... pop!

Today, an old friend wrote to my Wall

Now what is so fancy? Well, the friend w
as from the 1960's.

Here is the story....

My job at my church was to make the visitors feel welcome and glad they were visiting. The meeting
was at the point where the opening prayer was
being said. Suddenly, a loud motorcycle was heard
just outside the east windows. The rider was
gunning his motor, and you can imagine how that
was when all were silent, listening to the prayer
being said. Our Minister is called a Bishop.... and
he was looking at me.

I felt panic... what to do....? I had never had this
experience and though quickly. If I went out and
had the rider move the motor to the rear of the
building, then perhaps he would shut off the motor.

As I stood, and began walking, I felt every eye in
the room looking at me. The person giving the
prayer, was also glaring at me. Never was I so
happy to get out of the chappel, as I was at that
time.

When I closed the door behind me, I saw a "Hell's
Angel on his motocycle, and his "Mall" behind him.

I had him ride his bike out of the patio, and down
the steps (he had riden up) onto the driveway. We
went to the rear of the church, and I indicated for
him to park the vehicle, and come into the back
room with me. It was the kitchen. It may be of
worth at this point to mention that the Church was
a converted house.

Inside, I invited the man and the woman to sit, and
as I had no idea what else to do, I began to explain what we believed and why we believed it. He had many questions, which my hurried answers were somehat poor and, I thought incomplete.

GOD was with me that day. The Man's name was, He said, "Doc and the woman was his wife."

After a few minutes, when I had a feeling of more
comfort, our question and answer conversation took a turn, and we were discussing values and the issues of the day, with a view to understanding each other.

We became fast friends that day, and remain so, even today. Doc may have kept his bike, I don't know, because I never saw it again. Doc even was convinced of the truth of the Gospel of Jesus the Christ, and joined our church by the waters of baptism. Doc and his wife, began to attend our church services, and was given a job, as was his wife, and the children they were to have.

Times change, and with it, we moved away from the California church building. In fact, we even moved to the State of Washington....

Then, about six years later, we recieved a phone call, and it was Doc. They had moved up to the same area of Washington.

Doc was reestabishing friendship with us. And, he wanted me to get him help in unloading his furniture from the moving van into the home he had purchased for his family.

The years went by fast... Doc and his family became
concerned with different things. Doc was a bit apart from the church teachings, not that he was bad or anything, it was that he just did not believe as he had. This difference was his undoing, and before long, Doc was single.

The last I heard, he was selling Insurance in Canada.

Doc's family, however, was in harmony with the core of the church, and were living examples of what the church teaches and of how we are to live.

Today, Doc's wife is remarried, and is a worker in the Oregon Temple. Doc's children are wonderful.

What a wonderful experience it was for me to re-
establish communication with valued friends.

What goes around, comes around. The LORD and our FATHER are kind and loving to allow us to have friends. I hope that you have these same experiences in your life, and that it is good.

Now you have it...

When will it get warmer?

When will it get warmer, now do you wonder why I wrote that? Well, it is the 9th of March and when we looked out the window, there was about 1/2 inch of
white, and the rain that we are known for in Washington, is not comming down- no it is little white things, and that is called Snow.

The astronomers tell us that the Sun spots and Sun flares have a 12 year cycle. And, that we are in the
cycle without spots or flares, that just started this past few months.

Does that mean that the earth is not warming? I don't know.... the ice around the world seems to still be melting, and if it continues, well, how about the ocean level somewhere about 20 inches higher? What islands
will be under water? What cities?

If we now get a cold 12 years, will the ice pack reform?
Will the oceans remain or become static in turms of it's level? Answers to this question have not been forthcomming... perhaps it is that the established powers do not want to answer. And, they want buisness as usual? Is it political, and we should not dwell on
things government thinks is it's business only?

Now, that is why I say when will it get warmer.

On another matter, there is the economy. My question
here, is why put the man in charge of getting it roling again, is the very same man that when warned of what was going to happen, (and that was over 5 or 6 years)
said the messagers were crazy and that the economy
was healthy and strong and would not have problems?

Yes, I know \, Prsident Obama was elected, and we should all get behind him. After all, he is Our President. And we want our country to be OK... so
why is he not getting the best men and women to lead
the various aspects of our economy? Why will the men
and women whom can help, not cooperate?

Come on, lets help our president... Lets make his term of office a great one. Then we all win.

Of course, he must contend with the congress - and the folks there live in a diferent world, insulated from the reality we must live with. They have their own health
system, so when they make changes in our social security, it is only on paper for them, it will not affect
changes in their lives, only in ours.

On a diferent basis, we live in the world, and are of the world... And, the rule book that some of us live by was given to us by leaders we called prophets. Adam, Noah,
Benjamin, Soloman, Peter, James, Matthew, John, and others.... they recorded their lives and the beauty of it,
showing what happens when bad times come... what happens in good times.... perhaps we can learn from it.

The new Dna studies suggest we all came from the area
near Ethiopia.. and, suggests that the wives of Abraham, produced all of us, or, that the event of Noah may have been real, and the ark came down there
and allof us, of every religion or persuasion have descended from that event.

Well enough already...

Where is the warm sun, and the great weather we want?? Will it stay cold?? Can we handle the global warming?? What?? What??
