Hi.. two weeks without a cane...the new knee feels good
and the body works great - - pretty good for such an oldguy.
Then there are our young grandchildren, Arizona, Brescia,
and Kaitlyn. And greatgrand sons, Ryder, Ethan, Eli, Koby,
and Orson. Soon Arizona and Brescia will have a sister?
Yesterday, Kaitlyn was with us for a few hours. What an
additional gem she is. she could walk, but only takes a
few steps, Next month on this day, she will be 1 year old.
And, so will the new bride- yes Mrs Quigley will be a year
older in one month. They will probably have snow there
still. Whereas, here in Washington, the flowers are peeking
up out of the ground, and the little animals are out and fun.
Last month we had a young squirrel on the fence. It was
near a bird feeder. As it got on the feeder, the outer
wire section of the feeded slid down the inner section
which prevented the squirrel from getting into the feed.
The squirrel tried everything, and then it succeded. By
grabbing the top of the fence with it's hind feet, and
streching it's body down the fence board, and arching it's
back, it was possible for it to use a foreleg to reach the
seeds and grasp one or two. It would then put the seeds
into it's mouth. by this method, it emptied the bird's
food in a short time. Needless to say, the bird feeder
was removed and various ideas were considered. Should
we add another extention to the fence and put the squirrel
too far away ? That seemed like a good idea, but a back
up solution. The fence bracket that held the feeder,
was a long black metal wand like bracket. Would it be
possible to reshape the bracket and put the feeder out
of reach ? if so that would be the solution, I thought.
The 2nd idea is what I did. The squirrel has not been
back yet, and when it is, we will see. If it still can
get the food, then the fence extention will be used.
Oh, with my mobiliity restored, it was possible to plant
two new berry bushes, and some new colorful plants in
the front yard.
Hopefulloy, I can now settle down and grow old with the
beautiful lady whom agreed to live with me, almost 50
years ago, this comming april. We will be in CA next
month and will go to Disyneland for a couple of days,
yet our trip is to see my Sister and Brother, and for
Ann to visit her Aunt and Uncle- some family older.

Sadness
Yesterday was my younger greatgrandson's 1st birth day. He and
his family are in Idaho in College. What a great day it was,
yet, there is a sadness in my heart.
Ann read to me part of a journal of a young volunteer in Haiti...
what this young woman had to write and say has caused my heart
to break. Somany little one's whom will die without having the
happiness of life and family. So many with so little.
Perhaps when we are back with FATHER, we will know and see what
mortal life was designed to accomplish, and the hurt and pain
will not seem to be as much of a burden as it seems to be now.
Certainly the greed and errantness of the advisary may not be
with us there, yet, the memories will still be a part of each.
May those whom are in Haiti, to bring what love and kindness
to the Haitians, be ong felt and lasting. And God, our FATHER
bless all involved. May we each learn from this experience,
first hand, or vicariously.... I pray this for us.... grandad.

My Son is serving again
Sunday, the last of Jan, we got a call from Peter, our 5th child. He is in Haiti, and told us that he has been the quartermaster of his group there. The exicting
part is that Maureen and Scott Proctor of Meridian Magazine were there on Church assignment to report on LDS involvement, and Haitian conditions... AND...Peter was
their guide and interpreter. He is also the quartermaster of the group that left Salt Lake last week. This is a rare chance for him to return to the people he grew
to love, and to offer his love and help to them. This life opportunity is not often
given to each of us, and I for one thank my FATHER in heaven that the opportunity
is his. Peter's son, Tanner has a blogg and is following the details of his father, so use my blogg to get to that of Paige's or Rachels, and from there you can get to Tanner's great reporting.
Of lesser interest, I am starting my forth week with a new left Knee. The Knee fells
fine, the tendons and muscles need to repir themselves--they attrophied while the
leg bones became shorter by wear and tear.
IN November, my nephew and wife, and my granddaughter and new husband were sealed.
In Jan, on the 10th, a neice and nephew became the parents of a great little girl.
LIFE IS GOOD , now if our government leaders can get their act together, all will
be well..... love to you all

Great day
Does time ever fly by quickly, it seems that only a day
or so, we were in Hawaii. Now that event was over a yr
ago. And each of our children were little. We would go
to the park, and they would play. Little Melinda would
be in her stroller, and Pete was not born yet... it is
as just a day of so. Funny the mind works that way.
I suppose we will have the memories for all time.
Now, a great grandfather, with two of my kids, being
grandparents, what a great life... wow. And, we still
worry about them, and are sad at there troubles, but
glad at their sucesses at the same time.
Happy that Matthew, Maren, and Orson are O.K. Hope
that the product causing the damage will step up and
contribute to the minor losses they sustained... Do
they have a Blog?
When Iv'e finished this cheerful piece, it will be
tme to go to Legally Blond and Just another Paige.
I understand Pahina (can not put the accent over the
"i") has posted some interesting things on hers. and
that Legally has some very exclusive thoughts too.
It was great to read that Stef and her sisters, their
girls were going to a get away...a cruise. Too bad
that her dad wanted to be a tag along too, now it's
not an all girl thing any longer. Ah well! Different
values for each and everyone.
Family is where it is at. And remember, we have a
FATHER whom is the same before, now and always. If
we will be true to that family tie, all will be OK.
Say, someone in the family started us all on a card
game called Foot and Hand... and it is still a rage.
When you are retired and wake up and wonder what you
will do today, cards can fill holes.
Did you know that we live in exciting times? Yep,
it's true. When we get to heaven, if we do, when we
discuss what happened here, and what we saw, and did
all ears will hear, and everyone will be still to
learn what it was like. This is called the last
dispensation, or the last period of Earth life, by
some. I guess I am one of those.
The key is to be loving with ALL, for we all are in
this boat called Earth, and it can be a great place
if we will all work at it. Would we be in fat city
when all would reach their potential, and fullfill
their productivity... then the world would have no
poor, or needfull persons in it. And there would
be no selfinterested, selfish people. Goverments
and Civil leaders would be true and unselfish....
What if..? (that's what Tom Hanks says in "You've
got Mail.)

Today
Today we went with the bundling with Comcast. Now we have our computers and our TV, and Phone all together. My youngest son thinks it is a great thing, I have
reservations.... and we still get to pay for Clear wire for a couple of weeks...
Family is great, however.....love to you all.
Glad that the fire missed Jill's home.
Glad that Leslie and Doug are happy and healthy... He has slimmed down a
good ways, and has less of health issues as a result...wow
We will be stay at home'rs at least until our soujourn to Utah in November.
We plan to rent a motorhome, or stay somewhere for a week near the Library.
And there is a wedding in Draper, and family to visit... and missionary friends
to see. then too, Andrew Owen Arrington will lose his first name in exchange
for the new name, "Elder." If you have no clue as to where he is going, get in
touch with him, or this parents to find out.
Kaitlyn is growing. She is 6 months old now. Brescia is standing, and walking
around things, so it is not long and she will be walking without holding on..

How it looks from here.
Not long ago, Bill Wagner called, he had some problems with his health, and with
his transportation. I may have helped. The upshot is that we are friends, and I
like his friendship. Bill is a great guy, even if somewhat shy.
Bill is a professional fishing guide. He has taken me in his boat, and we went onto
the Snohomish River, where we caught Salmon. He has shown me how to clean,
and told me how to cook them. Needless to say, I love Salmon, and would eat
fish every day.
My wife, Ann, however, likes Salmon, but would like fish only once and a while.
It is a great thing in my life, that she is with me, and has patience. lshe is my
life and my joy.
It is interesting that my soon to be Missionary was introduced to fishing, and likes
it. When he gets back in 2011, we can go fishing, of course, he will be going on to
College, or getting a job. and, his mission may have given him some other interests
too.
On another matter, one of my granddughters, the oldest one, is now ingaged. She is
one of the most spiritual, and beautiful girls. But, then, ALL my granddaughters are
the most spiritual and beautiful.
Having written that, ALL my grandsons are the more wonderful and handsome.
If a grandfather,/great grandfather can not brag, whom can? In this case, it
is (in my opinion) true.
Hey, when you are retired, it is fun to go to a wedding...even in another state!
Perhaps we can rent or buy a small motorhome and drive all over the US? That is
if we still have a US. Our government seems to be giving away all we have
accomplished in the past. Get Thomas Jefferson's Quotations and see which ones
have come true. More later - -

Happy labor day....
Hey, this is the new vista from Microsoft. It is sooo quick. I threw off Norton in favor of Spyhunter. Evan, my son got it for me.
My former pc is not on the web now. It is for my Geneology files...
Evan and Carrie came with little Kaitlyn, only she is sooo long... myother grandkids
are short compared to this cutie. the kids have their own home now, some 40 miles south of us. It is wonderful to have these three here in WA. And fun to hellp and to work with them.
There are some big doings going on.... more after the fact.\
Change is good, usually. Remember, there isw nothing in this life happening that our Father in Heaven has not approved, and consented too, for each of us. I really
believe that we are given adversity to learn patience and resourcefulness.
Say, there are going to be two more of us on the highways in future. One of my Grandsons, and one of my Graddaughters... so, be careful, lets keep all of us safe.
Go to my facebook, and poke me, or write something on my wall.
My handle is, "grandad on a scooter 2007."
